Description
Mathematica is a highly sophisticated computational software package developed by Wolfram Research that covers the breadth and depth of technical computing. The current release, Mathematica 12, features a natural language interface and built-in integration with Wolfram|Alpha, the manufacturer's online computational engine. It combines numeric and symbolic computation with data visualization and programming capabilities.
Wolfram|Alpha is available at no charge to Penn faculty, staff, and students.
Eligibility and Terms
Licensed to: | The software is licensed to staff and faculty of the University of Pennsylvania for installation on University-owned systems for Penn-related academic use or academic research. Software is licensed as either a stand-alone or network version. A license is needed for each installation. The single-user license allows for installation on one computer. Student Licenses: Students purchase Mathematica at the Penn Computer Connection. Wharton, SEAS, and SAS have special arrangements for distributing Mathematica to their students as well as to their faculty and staff. |

Distribution: | Users create a Wolfram ID and download Mathematica. An Activation Key is emailed to the User from Wolfram. Wolfram|Alpha Pro is available at no charge to all faculty, staff, and students. |
Usage: | Users pay an annual right-to-use licensing fee that is renewed each July. The annual maintenance fee entitles you to free upgrades and technical support throughout the year. |
License Key: | A separate Activation Key is emailed to the User from Wolfram. For networked installations, send the MathID number to Office of Software Licensing. Your license key will be emailed to you. |
